The Southern Pacific Line may have ended service in 1978, but trains are back at the Danville Depot this summer. Now through Aug. 8, “Model Trains, a Railroad Exhibit,” and toy trains for children to play with are on display. HO Scale trains are being exhibited through July 1; S Scale Trains are on display from July 23-28.
The Museum of the San Ramon Valley, housed in the historic Danville Depot, is located at 205 Railroad Ave., Danville. Regular summer hours are 10-1 Tuesdays-Saturdays. The museum will be open 9 a.m.-3 p.m., Saturday, June 30; and closed on the 4th of July. Admission is free but donations are welcome. Also museum docents are offering walking tours of the historic downtown on the second Saturday of each month, May through October. Meet at the museum at 10 a.m. And Councilwoman Karen Stepper offers a Friday evening Old Town tour on the third Friday of each month through October, meeting at 6:15 p.m. at the Village Theatre on Front Street. No reservations are required for either tour.
