The Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley teamed up with KNTV11 weatherman John Farley and Raley’s and Nob Hill grocery stores to host its annual turkey drive Nov. 17. They collected 234 turkeys and 756 food bags for an estimated 16,500 pounds of food in a single day. All the donations were delivered to the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano Counties located in Concord.
Throughout the entire Bay Area, the drive resulted in 4,539 turkeys, 130,000 pounds of food and $7,500 cash collected. In addition, Wells Fargo committed $50,000 and Applied Materials donated 1,440 turkeys. The food was distributed to Bay Area families in need.
