The holiday season is a time of merriment, family and peace, but for too many families in Contra Costa County this holiday season has none of those qualities. This season, like every season for families struggling with domestic violence, is a time of anxiety and fear. Fear of a family member or partner who turns home from haven to hell. Ashamed and terrified, victims of domestic violence become hostages in their own homes.
STAND! Against Domestic Violence’s emergency housing is often the only safe place these women and children have to go. STAND!’s crisis line is available 24 hours a day, 365 days a year for anyone who needs it. Here are the telephone numbers:
* 24-hour crisis line: 1-888-215-5555
* If you are hurting some you love: 676-2968
* Calling from outside Contra Costa County: 1-800-799-7233
* To volunteer: 676-2945
As the sole provider of comprehensive domestic violence services for victims of domestic violence in Contra Costa County, STAND! provides a critical resource as it moves women and their children from dangerous, violent situations to safe, supportive homes, where fear and anxiety is no longer a part of their lives.
