Danville native Jeff Gustafson joined more than 10,000 young leaders from across the country from Feb. 27-March 2 for Power Shift ’09 in Washington, D.C., to demand that President Obama and Congress pass a bold climate and energy policy that prioritizes renewable energy, green job creation and an aggressive cap on carbon emissions.
“The youth of America turned out in record numbers to elect a new President and Congress. We’re here now to take our rightful seat at the political table,” said Gustafson.
Gustafson, a recent graduate of George Washington University and director of the DC Youth Environmental Alliance, led a workshop titled “Grassroots Response to the International Climate Talks.” Gustafson graduated from San Ramon Valley High School where he was a member of Student Activists for a Viable Environment, or SAVE.
