Community Planning Academy
Applications are now open for the fall session of San Ramon’s Community Planning Academy.
“This four week program introduces residents to how and why cities plan, how planning shapes San Ramon’s growth and character, and how the land use and development review process works,” city officials said in the program description. “The Academy is designed to help community members better understand the policies, tools, and decision making that guide the city’s future.”
The course is set to meet from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. Monday evenings from Sept. 14 through Oct. 5. Applications are open through July 31, with selected participants set to be notified in August. More information is available here.
Emergency preparedness survey
Contra Costa County is seeking input from residents on its emergency warning system and community preparedness efforts this month as wildfire season gets underway and the ubiquitous threat of major earthquakes looms over the Bay Area.
Considerations about those and other potential catastrophes are front and center of the county’s emergency preparedness survey, which seeks to garner insight into how best to reach residents with emergency alerts and other communications.
“This survey will help the County better understand how people receive emergency information and identify ways to improve communications during incidents such as wildfires, earthquakes, refinery incidents, public safety emergencies, and other disasters,” county officials said on the website.
“Your responses will help improve emergency notifications, preparedness resources, and outreach efforts throughout Contra Costa County,” they continued.
Residents can provide input on the county’s Community Warning System through July 10, with the survey available in English and Spanish, and estimated to take approximately 10 minutes.
Summer concert series
San Ramon’s outdoor summer concert series is returning this month, starting with a special July 4 performance from The Cheeseballs this weekend and running through the start of August.
The rest of the lineup consists of pop and soul music from Pride and Joy on July 12, hit songs from the past four decades from Pop Rocks July 19, a tribute to Prince from The Purple Ones July 26, and popular retro and modern songs from Take 2 on Aug. 2.
All shows are scheduled for 5:30 p.m. at the Central Park Amphitheater.
