Nordstrom Local Danville opened last week, introducing the Tri-Valley to a service-focused location rather than traditional in-store shopping.

Located at 600 Sycamore Valley Road, the 1,214-square-foot service hub is the sixth Nordstrom Local in California and the ninth overall, according to a press release from the retailer.

Nordstrom Local stores do not have traditional sales floors with merchandise. Instead, customers can pick up online orders from Nordstrom.com and NordstromRack.com, process returns from Nordstrom and Nordstrom Rack, access alteration services and receive complimentary gift boxes with all purchases.

The Danville location will also be accepting new and gently used clothing and shoes. The donations will be directed to nonprofit partners that support the community.

The opening is part of a broader California expansion for the company. The Danville location is the second service hub that has opened in the past month, with the 1,190-square-foot Nordstrom Local One Paseo in San Diego that opened on June 4.

In the first few weekends of the opening at the Danville location, customers can expect complimentary items and treats from local businesses including Batter ‘n Icing, Cold Stone Creamery, Foxworthy Floral, Tellus Coffee and Tal’s Patisserie.

Fanya Chandler, president of Nordstrom stores, said in the company’s release that the new locations are meant to bring services closer to customers.

“By extending our presence closer to where our customers live and work, we believe Nordstrom Locals will offer greater convenience, broader access to what they need, and a more personalized experience,” Chandler said.

The Danville and San Diego Nordstrom Local openings join California locations in Brentwood, Newport Beach, Manhattan Beach and Fillmore.
