Beginning this Friday, Danville welcomes back its summer Moonlight Movies and Music in the Park series
Throughout the season, people can bring their family and friends on alternating Fridays and Saturdays to enjoy the festivities and picnic at the Town Green for a free concert or movie.
Movies on Fridays begin at 6:30 p.m. and concerts on Saturdays start at 6 p.m. The series is set to run through Aug. 3, according to an announcement from town officials.
The first film screening this Friday night is “Aquaman,” followed by “Aladdin” (June 28), “Angels in the Outfield” (July 14) and “Super Mario Bros” (July 26).
Viewers are encouraged to purchase dinner from their favorite downtown Danville restaurants to enjoy on the lawn during the activities and games prior to sunset and the start of the film.
The first Music in the Park concert is set for next Saturday (June 22) at Oak Hill Park, kicking off with Latin rock group MomoTomboSF, featuring former members of Malo and Santana.
Other performers including country artist Jackson Michelson, alternative rock band Judd Hoos and the Unauthorized Rolling Stones are set for concerts every other Saturday through Aug. 3.
Food trucks will also be on site for the first three concerts, gearing up toward the final performance of the summer on the Town Green.Â
Officials said that parking for nights at the Town Green can be found at the Village Theatre and Front Street parking lots. Oak Hill Park parking will be accessible at the Community Center parking lot and Monte Vista High School next door.
All of the upcoming events are open and free to the public. Food and beverages are permitted and attendees are encouraged to bring blankets, warm layers and chairs.
The Town Green is located at 420 Front St. and Oak Hill Park is at 3005 Stone Valley Road in Danville. For more information, contact Performing Arts Coordinator
