Floral art has blossomed once again at Livermore’s Civic Center Library.
The fourth annual “Flora in Focus” exhibition opened in the main hallway’s gallery space last weekend and remains on display there through the end of this month – a showcase of local artists that “highlights the power of creativity, collaboration and friendship”, according to organizer Meghana Mitragotri.
“Flowers remind us that beauty comes in many forms, and our group is much the same,” Mitragotri said in a press release. “Over the years, our shared love for flowers and art has grown into a beautiful friendship. We celebrate each other’s creativity, encourage one another and continue to flourish together.”
In addition to watercolorist Mitragotri, the exhibition features artists Monique Makepeace, Wei-Ting Chuang, Charlotte Severin, Jenna Hobbs, Helene Roylance, Tejal Shah, Lynda Briggs, Peggy Kervin, Usha Shukla, Tuan Karsevar, Rekha Joshi and Ranjini Venkatachari.
The diversity of creative mediums includes colored pencil, acrylic, watercolor, oil, gouache, glass, mixed media and East Asian brush painting.
“Like a garden where each flower contributes its own color and character, each artist brings a distinct artistic voice while supporting and inspiring one another,” Mitragotri said. “Each piece reflects the artist’s personal interpretation of nature’s elegance and the endless inspiration found in flowers.”
Residents will be able to meet with participating artists during a special reception from 2-4 p.m. Aug. 29 at the library, 1188 S. Livermore Ave. – refreshments and raffle prizes will be offered too.
The “Flora in Focus” group typically holds two exhibitions each year, one at the Harrington Gallery in Pleasanton and the other at the Livermore Library.
