Citizens Water Academy

The Dublin San Ramon Services District is seeking applicants for their next Citizens Water Academy program, aimed at offering a “behind-the-scenes peek into water management” according to an announcement Wednesday.

The program consists of three sessions at DSRSD facilities in the evenings on April 17, May 22 and June 20, with light meals provided.

“Participants will engage with subject matter experts while they explore topics such as water supply and water quality; wastewater operations; District infrastructure, finances and governance; and environmental stewardship,” DSRSD organizers said in Wednesday’s announcement.

In addition to providing insights about water management and local issues, the program is aimed at providing information and background into career pathways and other opportunities for new leaders in regional wastewater management.

Applications are open to DSRSD customers over the age of 18 who are available for all three session dates through March 29. More information and applications are available here.

‘Making Herstory’ panel

The Contra Costa Commission for Women and Girls is hosting a virtual panel centered on women in non-traditional roles later this month.

The panel is set to feature members of the community with experience serving in roles in domains such as public safety, governance, STEM, business, and other areas that are considered “non-traditional” fields for women, including former San Ramon Councilmember Sabina Zafar and SRVFPD firefighter Shawnay Tarquinio.

State Treasurer Fiona Ma is set to appear as the event’s keynote speaker, with Krisha Singhani — creator of a menstruation-induced anemia detection device — serving as youth speaker.

The event is scheduled on March 23 from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Registration is available here

Juried art exhibit

Organizers with the Town of Danville are seeking artists to participate in the town’s next juried art exhibit, “Botanica.”

The latest annual exhibit will be the 14th from the town, and is open to all artists.

“The exhibition seeks to capture the essence of flowers in their many forms, across a variety of creative media,” organizers said in an announcement Monday.

Artists may submit up to three pieces for consideration for a $30 fee through May 3, with submissions open to a range of media including sculpture, collage, photography, oil painting, and digital art. More information is available here.

“Botanica” is set to run at the Village Theatre Art Gallery at 233 Front St. in Danville from July 13 through Sept. 20.
