The model trains and set include miniature versions of historic landmarks in the San Ramon Valley such as the Danville Presbyterian Church, as well as a mail train that allows children to “play mailman” according to MSRV organizers.

This year’s exhibit debuts on Saturday (June 29) for a run through Aug. 25 during the museum’s open hours from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 3 p.m. at 205 Railroad Ave. in Danville. More information is available at museumsrv.org.

San Ramon budget talk

San Ramon City Manager Steven Spedowfski is set to host a presentation and community discussion on the city’s financial outlook Friday morning as the latest in a series of ongoing outreach and education efforts on the city’s budget, and as the latest installment of the San Ramon Chamber of Commerce’s Fourth Friday Roundtables.

The event is scheduled from 8:30 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the San Ramon Valley Conference Center at 3301 Crow Canyon Blvd. More information and registration – which is encouraged but not required – is available here.

Fireworks in Dublin

People will be able to buy “Safe and Sane” fireworks in Dublin, sold by registered local nonprofits for fundraising purposes, this Friday (June 28) through Independence Day.

The annual program includes the city allowing people to use the “Safe and Sane” fireworks at their houses for the six days and at designated parks next Thursday. Only the “Safe and Sane” fireworks are allowed to be used in Dublin — no other Tri-Valley community permits personal fireworks of any kind for safety reasons.

Dublin city officials issued an advisory in recent days reminding folks of the rules and urging them to exercise caution when using the permitted fireworks.

In addition to use at single-family residential property during the sales window, the fireworks can be used between 10 a.m. and 10 p.m. on the Fourth of July in the parking lots of Alamo Creek Park, Dublin Sports Grounds, Emerald Glen Park and Shannon Park. They cannot be used at multi-unit housing properties, undesignated parks, other city facilities, public schools or business lots.

Authorities promise an increased presence of police officers and firefighters related to fireworks activity around the holidays. To report illegal fireworks, residents can call Dublin Police Services at 925-462-1212. Learn more at www.dublin.ca.gov/fireworks.

Danville financial award

The Town of Danville has been awarded a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 20th year in a row by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA).

“The award recognizes the Town’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report, which tracks the financial well-being of the Town, and comes as the Town Council adopted the annual budget for the 2024-2025 fiscal year earlier this month,” town officials said in an announcement Thursday. “Creating a balanced and effective budget in today’s economic climate requires significant expertise and precision, reflecting the high standards recognized by the GFOA award.”

The award program is aimed at incentivizing municipalities to “go beyond the minimum requirements of generally accepted accounting principles” in their financial management and reporting according to Thursday’s announcement.

“Creating a balanced and effective budget in today’s economic climate requires significant expertise and precision, reflecting the high standards recognized by the GFOA award,” town officials said.
