The Danville Town Council is set to present the town’s 11th annual Design Awards at its next regular meeting, which will recognize outstanding architectural design for new developments and renovations in recent years.
The upcoming awards recognize projects that were developed or renovated between 2019 and 2023 in four different categories including Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design, Outstanding Custom Home Design, Outstanding Commercial/Retail Design, and Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design.
“This award program strives to raise public awareness of the value and design excellence that owners, architects, and builders bring to all project types,” Associate Planner Riley Anderson-Barrett said in a staff report prepared for the upcoming meeting.
The Town Council selected the winning projects during a study session on Feb. 13, with the upcoming meeting set to focus on recognizing the projects and the people behind them.
The winners of this year’s Design Awards consist of 80-88 Rivers Lane and the Edendale project on the southeast corner of Camino Tassajara and Sherburne Hills Road for Outstanding New Residential Neighborhood Design, the Haramoglis Residence at 372 Cordell Drive for Outstanding Custom Home Design, the I Can Do That! Performing Arts Center at 194 Diablo Road for Outstanding Commercial Remodel Design, and 375 Hartz Ave. for Outstanding Historic Renovation and Redevelopment Design.
“The quality of these projects exemplifies and upholds the Town’s dedication to preserving and enhancing the Town’s special history and character,” Anderson-Barrett said.

*In a special meeting at 4 p.m. ahead of the regular meeting, the council is set for a study session led by District 2 County Supervisor Candace Andersen on a location for a new South County outpost for the Contra Costa Family Justice Center. The agenda is available here.
*The council is set to issue proclamations recognizing March as Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Month and National Disabilities Awareness Month.
