The Danville Town Council is set to review and consider a request from Pleasanton officials to join them in supporting increased fees for hotel stays in the Tri-Valley Tourism District, also known as Visit Tri-Valley.
With just one hotel in town – Best Western Sycamore Inn – the proposed hotel stay assessment increase would consist of a $4 fee per night, leading to approximately $46,000 in additional revenue for Visit Tri-Valley.
The city of Pleasanton is the administering community for the tourism district, and is requesting comments and acknowledgement of the assessment increase that was approved by the district’s board in March, with the increase set to go into effect July 1.
In addition to Pleasanton and Danville, the Tri-Valley Tourism Management District is funded by the cities of Livermore and Dublin as well as some unincorporated communities including Blackhawk and Alamo. The Danville Town Council voted in 2022 to be included in the district when it was renewed that year for 10 years through 2032.
“While not a requirement, Pleasanton is requesting input as their Council prepares to review the item at their May 20, 2025 meeting,” communications manager Jenn Starnes wrote in a press release prepared for the upcoming meeting.Â
While Dublin has provided a letter of acknowledgment at the request of the Pleasanton City Council, “Livermore has indicated they do not see a need to provide a letter” according to Starnes, given its previous approval of a 10-year plan allowing for the rate increase.
The interim general manager of Best Western’s Danville location and the company’s regional manager have told the town that “the increase would not necessarily impact their operations,” according to Starnes, with Visit Tri-Valley having sent letters to all participating properties in the district and an offer for two informational meetings on the topic.
Town Manager Joe Calabrigo has drafted a letter of acknowledgement on the town’s behalf in response to Pleasanton’s request, which the Town Council is set to vote on moving forward with at its upcoming meeting.
The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday (May 6). The agenda is available here.
