Town Talks
Danville’s Town Talks with the mayor series is set to continue for a fourth year, with the first event of 2024 marking the first time recently-selected Mayor Karen Stepper will lead the discussion.

The upcoming event is set to feature updates on the town’s downtown revitalization efforts as well as insight from the Danville Police Department.
The virtual talk is set for 9-10 a.m. on Friday (Feb. 16), and will be broadcasted live on Facebook and YouTube. Residents are invited to submit questions in advance to towntalks@danville.ca.gov, or to ask their questions live during the discussion.
Friday Foreign Films
The San Ramon Arts Foundation’s Friday Foreign Film series is underway for another season, with the most recent selection of films aimed at showcasing works from South Korea, Japan, Hong Kong and Vietnam.
The next installment of the series is “In the Mood for Love” on Friday (Feb. 16), which tells the tale of two people whose spouses are having an affair together, and who develop romantic feelings for each other yet seek to keep their own relationship platonic. The film out of Hong Kong features Cantonese dialogue with English subtitles.
The series is set to close out next week with the South Korean film “Treeless Mountain” which has proven to be popular in the international film festival circuit. The film tells the story of two sisters who band together following their mother’s death in an effort to support one another and to find their estranged father.
Both screenings are set for 7 p.m. in the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center at 10550 Albion Road in San Ramon. Tickets and more information are available at sanramonarts.org.
O’Neill Foundation happy hour
Organizers with the Eugene O’Neill Foundation are set to host a happy hour event at Danville’s Auburn Lounge next week aimed at showcasing and celebrating the work of the famed playwright and namesake of the organization.
Artistic Director Eric Fraisher Hayes is set to provide updates on the foundation’s upcoming events, along with National Park Service ranger HIlary Grabowska. The event is also set to feature a quiz, prizes, and drink specials.
The free event is scheduled from 5-6 p.m. on Tuesday (Feb. 20) in the back room of the Auburn Lounge at 321 Hartz Ave. in Danville.
