Danville commission openings
With five out of its eight members in terms that expire at the end of this year, the Town of Danville is seeking applicants to consider for seats on the volunteer-based Planning Commission as well as other town committees and commissions.
Current Planning Commission members including chair Mark Graham, vice chair Lou Palandrani, commissioners Mary Grace Houlihan and Paul Radich, and alternate commissioner Ken Mintz are all in the final months of their terms expiring on Dec. 31.
The selection of five commissioners for the next four-year term is set to be the only opportunity in which the membership of the Danville Planning Commission might turn over before the end of 2026, when the terms of the three other commissioners – Archie Bowles, Robert Combs, and Chris Trujillo – are set to expire.
The town is also seeking applicants for one member of its Design Review Board and four members – one architect and three non-architects – for its Heritage Resource Commission, as well as a representative for the town on the Contra Costa Mosquito and Vector Control District.
Applications for all 11 roles are open through Nov. 21 at 4 p.m., with interviews scheduled with the Town Council either on the morning of Dec. 10 or the afternoon of Dec. 17. The members are set to be appointed on Dec. 17.
SRVUSD parcel tax committee
The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is recruiting members for its new parcel tax oversight committee, with applications open through Sept. 12.
“The committee provides oversight for the Board of Education to ensure that the funds are spent as intended by the voters of the parcel tax,” district officials said in an announcement on Aug. 16. “The committee will meet at least twice per year and report on an annual basis to the Board and community on how these funds have been spent. All meetings are open to the public.”
The committee is set to consist of six members appointed for two-year terms. The positions are volunteer-based with no compensation offered, and members will be subject to a limit of two consecutive terms on the body.
Eligible applicants must be residents of the school district’s boundaries and registered voters.

Lady K and the Kings of Swing
The city of San Ramon’s Fall Dance is set to feature the swing and Latin dance stylings of Grammy-nominated vocalist Carla Helmbrecht and an accompanying brass band, better known as Lady K and the Kings of Swing.
“The band will play a variety of Swing and Latin music as ballroom classics with something for everyone,” organizers said in an announcement from the city Thursday.
In addition to music and dancing, the event is set to include beverages sold by the San Ramon Arts Foundation.

Imaginarium at Stoneridge mall
Imaginarium’s immersive outdoor light show “Where Light Meets Magic” is coming to the Stoneridge Shopping Center this Friday through Oct. 20.
The walk-through experience featuring more than five million lights offers people the chance to experience “the expansive festival of lights together, getting lost amongst the dazzling displays, captivating visuals and memorable photo opportunities found around every corner,” organizers said.
