Bollinger Canyon Road lane closures
Drivers on Bollinger Canyon Road are advised to anticipate delays and drive with caution amid lane closures scheduled to kick off Friday (May 2) as work continues on the final steps in the Iron Horse Trail overcrossing being constructed over the busy thoroughfare.
As of Thursday, work had been completed on the overcrossing’s south sidewalk and handrail installation ahead of its anticipated completion this summer. From May 2 to May 7, paving work is set to necessitate lane closures on Bollinger Canyon Road between Market Place and Bishop Ranch 1E, with lane closures also anticipated to accommodate continuing electrical work.
Other work on the project planned through May 7 includes continued irrigation, planting, electrical work, and bench installation.
DeSaulnier town hall
Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) is set to hold his next town hall this weekend in Oakley.
The latest in a series of town halls focusing on recent concerns brought on by the new presidential administration and the work of DeSaulnier and his colleagues in congress in the face of them is set to focus on the environment, with a resource fair featuring local agencies and organizations scheduled ahead of the talk.
“Here in California, we’ve seen firsthand the disastrous effects of climate change from devastating wildfires to more extreme temperatures,” DeSaulnier wrote in an April 29 announcement. “Amid this climate crisis, the Trump Administration’s policies have undermined the tools we have to address global warming, including rolling back environmental protections and withdrawing from the Paris Climate Agreement.”
The event is set to kick off with the resource fair at 1:30 p.m. Saturday (May 3), followed by an update from DeSaulnier at 2 p.m.
More information and an RSVP is available here. The exact location of the event and other details will be provided to confirmed attendees.

The third in a series of public budget workshops is set for May 13, following an overview of the budgeting process at the March 25 City Council meeting and budget workshops on April 15 and April 23.Â
A public survey is also available, with results set to be used to guide the budget process for the following fiscal year.
