Alamo tree work
The Contra Costa County Public Works Department is advising drivers to prepare for five to 10 minute delays during the latest in an ongoing series of tree work and landscaping projects along Danville Boulevard in Alamo Friday.
Traffic control measures will be in place during work hours from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. for pruning work on the major throughway between Creek Tree Lane and La Serena avenue, with the project aimed at improving public safety according to an announcement from the agency.
‘Songs of Love and Loss’
The San Ramon Valley Chorale is preparing for its spring concert, Songs of Love and Loss, with this year marking the group’s 10th anniversary.
“For ten years, this chorale has brought our community together through music that moves, challenges and inspires,” organizers said in an announcement this month. “This concert honors that journey with a program that spans centuries of passion and storytelling.”
With selections ranging from the work of Burt Bacharach to Carmina Burana to Irish and Scottish love songs, the concert’s title piece is from longtime Bay Area composer, professor, and symphony director Allan Pollack.
Shows are scheduled for 4 p.m. May 2 and May 3 at the San Ramon Valley United Methodist Church in Alamo. Tickets and more information are available here.

“The Commission also may initiate preparation of general plans, specific plans, regulations, programs, and legislation to implement the land use planning power of the county; is generally responsible for advising the Board of Supervisors of matters relating to planning; is the designated advisory agency for the purpose of passing on subdivisions; and hears and makes recommendations regarding proposed development agreements,” county officials said in a press release last week.
Applications are open through May 8 at 5 p.m., with public interviews scheduled for May 26 via Zoom.
