The Danville Planning Commission is set to consider an application for a site on Tassajara Lane that would allow the 8.49-acre property to be subdivided into seven single-family lots, as well as the removal of a town-protected oak tree.

The proposed subdivision site is two adjacent parcels at 2449 and 2451 Tassajara Lane in the southeast portion of town, with the application on the table from Tassajara Holdings LLC and Greg and Beverly Kent at the upcoming planning commission meeting proposing the subdivision and tree removal only.

No architectural plans are up for discussion so far. Design guidelines for the proposed project have been reviewed and approved by the town’s Design Review Board.

Under the town’s General Plan, the site and the surrounding Tassajara Lane and Sherburne Hills Area are designated as a Special Concern Area “which recognizes the need to coordinate remaining development to ensure full provision of services to this area,” according to a staff report from Project Planner Fred Korbmacher, in which he also noted several other aspects of the General Plan pertain to development in the area.

“In summary, they state that the remaining vacant land should be developed to maintain the character of the area, conserve steeper slopes as open space, and minimize grading and vegetation removal,” Korbmacher wrote. “The General Plan also seeks to coordinate the development in the area to ensure the provision of necessary shared public and private improvements in the area.”

Planning commissioners are set to discuss and consider a vote on the subdivision and tree removal application at their next regular meeting on Tuesday (March 12) at 5 p.m. The agenda is available here.
