Danville Mayor Karen Stepper.

Officials with the Town of Danville and the Danville Area Chamber of Commerce are set to host an annual State of the Town event Thursday, during which Mayor Karen Stepper will provide updates on the town’s capital improvement projects aimed at enhancing downtown gathering spaces and pedestrian safety as well as other town initiatives.

The update on downtown improvement projects comes weeks before the start of construction on the first phase of improvements at downtown intersections along Hartz Avenue, scheduled to begin the first week of April.

In addition to discussing the $4.9 million Downtown Master Plan Catalyst Project, Stepper is set to discuss other key initiatives according to an announcement from officials Tuesday, including new efforts aimed at supporting local businesses, as well as providing an economic update and business forecast.

Other topics on tap include updates on the town’s Housing Element, programs produced in partnership between the town and the chamber aimed at bolstering the town’s economic landscape, updates from community service and nonprofit organizations, and information on existing town amenities.

The luncheon event is scheduled from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Thursday at the Bay Club Crow Canyon at 711 Silver Lake Drive in Danville. Tickets are available here.
