The Danville Town Council is set to hear the latest on recruitment efforts for its advisory bodies at its next regular meeting, following the deadline for applications on two advisory commissions and in the throes of recruiting for multiple other seats through May.

The town has received four applications for two seats on the Bicycle Advisory Commission that were vacated with the ousting of former commissioners and high-profile bicycle safety advocates Al Kalin and Bruce Bilodeau, with applications closed as of Feb. 26 and interviews scheduled for the applicants on March 11.

Meanwhile, the town has received no applications so far for three seats on its Heritage Resource Commission – two non-architect seats and one architect seat – which were also subject to a Feb. 26 deadline.

Applicants for those seats as well as the two on the Bicycle Advisory Commission are for the remainder terms vacated by their predecessors, with recruitment also underway for full terms on a number of other advisory bodies through May 11.

The other openings consist of four regular positions and one alternate position on the Parks, Recreation and Arts commission, two seats on the Senior Advisory Commission, and one representative on the Contra Costa Transportation Authority Citizen Advisory Committee – all for four-year terms.

The two-year term positions include youth representatives on the Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission and Arts Advisory Board, one representative on the Contra Costa County Advisory Council on Aging, as well as two-year terms for poet laureate and youth poet. The town is also seeking to fill one regular seat on the Design Review Board for a term ending Dec. 31, 2028.

The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday (March 4). The agenda is available here.

In other business, the council is set to recognize March as American Red Cross Month and Prescription Drug Abuse Awareness Month.
