The Town of Danville has announced the start of major capital improvement work along San Ramon Valley Boulevard between Hartz Avenue and city limits with San Ramon this week, with work on a weeks-long paving project set to kick off Tuesday.
The paving phase beginning this week is part of a substantial capital improvement project that is also set to include fiber optic and bicycle infrastructure upgrades in addition to pavement work for the sake of “enhancing safety and connectivity for residents and commuters.”
The project site consists of a major throughway in southwestern Danville, extending roughly from just south of the intersection of San Ramon Valley Boulevard and Fostoria Way all the way past the Town and Country and Livery shopping centers near Sycamore Valley Boulevard and the Crossroads Shopping Center on the outskirts of downtown to Hartz Avenue.
Pavement work is set to last for approximately three to five weeks, according to town officials. Work is set to be completed in four segments, starting on the southernmost end of the project site between Fostoria Way and Fountain Springs Drive, then moving to the northernmost portion near Hartz Way.
“The two remaining segments in between require a different level of repair and will be done after the first two segments,” town officials said in an announcement March 7.
Work on the project – which was first announced last year, then delayed due to weather and limited contractor availability according to the town’s announcement – is set to entail intermittent lane closures and one-way traffic controls, but is aimed at minimizing impacts during major commute hours, with construction hours scheduled from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.Â
The impacted portion of San Ramon Valley Boulevard is set to see a reduction to one travel lane during resurfacing work, as well as parking restrictions during the project.
“The Town of Danville appreciates the community’s patience as we work to enhance this key corridor,” town officials said in last week’s announcement.
