This Independence Day marks the 50th anniversary of Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley hosting the historic 4th of July Parade in partnership with the Town of Danville.
The popular parade is Kiwanis SRV’s signature fundraiser and annually draws more than 125 parade entries and more than 40,000 spectators, making it one of the largest July 4 parties in the San Francisco Bay Area, according to a statement from the organization.
Stretching from San Ramon Valley High School south along Hartz Avenue to Town and County Drive, the event is set for 9 a.m. to noon.
After five decades as part of the Danville community, this year’s parade intends to celebrate community service with the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano being named the 2025 Parade Grand Marshal.
“We’re honored to partner with the Kiwanis Club of San Ramon Valley as Grand Marshal of this year’s 50th annual Kiwanis Danville 4th of July Parade,” said Caitlin Sly, president and CEO at the Food Bank of Contra Costa and Solano, in a statement. “The Kiwanis Club has been a longtime supporter of our mission to lead the fight to end hunger, and we’re proud to celebrate these milestones together as both of our organizations mark a 50-year anniversary serving the community.”
While steeped in history and tradition, the Kiwanis 4th of July Parade in Danville still aims to showcase the best of the town. The parade is supported by groups like Scouting America, Girl Scouts, National Charity League, and Boys Team Charity. The Kiwanis SRV parade has grown with its community, parading annually in Danville from when the town had a population of 26,500 to almost double that amount now.
“I’ve been attending the Danville parade on and off for the last 20 years,” resident Allison Gagnon told DanvilleSanRamon. “The Danville parade is the epitome of feel-good community spirit — a place where toddlers sit on grandparents’ laps, teenagers cheer with their friends, and folks of all ages come together in celebration. I’m so grateful to have been part of it all these years, and even more blessed that my children get to grow up with this same cherished tradition.”
The parade will feature floats led by local businesses and service clubs; high school marching bands and rock bands; classic cars, big trucks, and horses; military and Veterans organizations; spirit and cheer squads and youth sports, among other organizations.
“The Town of Danville is proud to celebrate the Kiwanis 4th of July Parade, a cherished tradition that embodies the spirit and legacy of our community,” said Danville Mayor Renee Morgan. “I have been coming to the parade for almost 40 years, and it has always brought my family and friends together, creating memories that will last a lifetime. The 4th of July parade symbolizes the heart of Danville and is a reflection of our camaraderie and commitment to honoring our nation’s independence.”
Funds raised through parade sponsorships go toward the Kiwanis SRV Grants Program, which provides grants to local and regional nonprofits. Kiwanis has presented grants totaling more than $1 million to Tri-Valley area nonprofit organizations.
