The Danville Planning Commission on Tuesday postponed a planned review of the
proposed 22-unit Martin Hills project on the outskirts of town at the applicant’s request.

Town officials announced the postponement about an hour before the meeting’s scheduled 5 p.m. start time.

Staff said applicant Scott Stringer asked for the change, citing a recent death in the family.

A new hearing date has not yet been set. Nearby residents will receive new public hearing notices at least 10 days before the hearing once it’s rescheduled, town officials said.

The Martin Hills Ranch project proposes 22 single-family homes on 103 acres of land located at the end of Como Way and Borica Drive. Developers with Bates Stringer have submitted applications that include a request to rezone the site from agricultural to residential. The plans have drawn criticism from neighbors, dozens of whom wrote to the town ahead of the Tuesday meeting to voice opposition to the project.

Because the application includes a rezoning request, the project will have to come before the Town Council for final approval, including certification of the Environmental Impact Report.
