The San Ramon Valley Unified School District is preparing for a change in leadership in its human resources department, with the department’s current director of certificated human resources set to pass the torch on to a former elementary school principal.
Keri Van de Star is set to depart from the position at the end of June, with former Golden View Elementary Principal Meredith Bullock having been selected to fill the position starting July 1 in a decision that was approved by the board of education at their April 16 meeting.
Bullock left Golden View in 2023 to spend the current academic year as director of special education for the Walnut Creek School District after serving as the San Ramon elementary school’s principal for three years. She began her career as a teacher at Bollinger Canyon Elementary School in 2003, going on to serve as assistant principal at Pine Valley Middle School before her tenure at Golden View.
Van de Star announced her retirement earlier this year after three years on the job, kicking off a months-long recruitment process for district officials to find her successor.
“We are grateful for her leadership in HR for the past three years and wish her all the best in retirement,” district spokesperson Ilana Israel Samuels said.
