Your May 5 article “San Ramon commission to hear Climate Action Plan update” highlighted an important step for our community. Happily, the Planning Commission recommended the City Council adopt the draft San Ramon Climate Action Plan (CAP) — a crucial step toward our future.

I urge every resident who values clean air and water, vibrant open spaces, and safe walking and biking paths to dive into this plan and make your voice heard! The CAP not only defends our lush local environment but addresses the urgent need for mitigation against the escalating risks of global heating here in Contra Costa County — including wildfires, droughts and floods.

The CAP is open for public comment until 5 p.m. on Thursday, May 15. Details here. Let’s rally together — submit your written comments before 5 p.m. on May 15 advocating for the immediate implementation of the CAP.

Our actions today shape the legacy we leave for future generations.
