Meet held Jan. 20-21 in Vancouver, Canada.
“I am very proud of Madison – she’s a ‘stud,'” said coach Dan Cotton.
Madison finished first in the 50- and 100-meter backstroke, third in the 100 individual medley, and placed in the top 10 in the 50 fly and 200 IM.
Other swimmers from Danville and San Ramon were Marissa Neel, Allison Brown, Steven Stump, Andy Wooldridge, Eric Lino and Kristine Doan, all finishing in the top 20. The team placed first in the 400 free relay; second in the 400 medley relay; second in the 200 free relay; and fourth in the 200 medley relay.
Five teams competed at the meet, including Northern California, Southern California, Washington, Oregon and British Columbia. The 32 swimmers competing on the team with Madison were chosen from 14,000 swimmers in the Northern California region.
Madison, who swims for the Crow Canyon Sharks and the Blackhawk Swim Club, qualified to swim as an All-Star swimmer at the Pacific Swimming Junior Olympic Championships in early December.
“Madison proved what I already know,” said coach Ethan hall. “I know she has the ability to step up and compete with anyone in the country.”
She is currently No. 1 in the nation in 50-meter and 100-meter backstroke in the 11-12 age group.
