A call from an alert Tri-Valley resident led to the arrest of four men in a mail-theft ring that spanned four counties, including cities in Contra Costa County.

A resident of MacDonald Court in Pleasanton spotted a man removing mail from several mailboxes at about 9:20 p.m. Friday, and then watched the man join others in a compact, silver hatchback-style vehicle.

A sweep by police located the car, a 2011 Nissan Versa not far from the caller’s location, with four men from outside the area. A search of the car turned up suspected stolen mail from multiple addresses in Pleasanton as well as 13 other cities in Contra Costa, San Mateo and Solano counties.

Four Contra Costa County men were arrested and booked into Santa Rita Jail for possession of stolen property, forgery, conspiracy and drug-related charges. They were David A. Gonzalez, 23, of Antioch and Concord residents Elmer Aguilar, 18, Gustavo E. Rivas, 26, and Ruben J. Ramirez, 31.

  1. WHAT JERKS … THEY NEED TO LEARN THEIR LESSON AND BY THE LOOKS OF IT NEED TO GO BACK TO MEXICO BET ALL OF THEM ARE UNDOCUMENTED ILLEGALS maybe they are looking for their free obamacare application.

  2. Hay guys! Check out that other story in the “crime” section – the one about the guys who stole thousands of times as much money as these amateurs did – the foreclosure sale ring. C’mon, vent up there! Those guys didn’t mess around with a handful of checks – they conspired to steal millions.

Go ahead. Don’t be shy. Head on over to the other story and “express yourselves.”

  3. Yeah Huh—-I noticed that someone noted that two of the three miscreants from the other white color crime -is this a racist term?–were probably Latino and Asian!

These guys need to be deported with a tracker injected into their guts. Bet Obama’s NSA already has the prototype!!
