Role Players Ensemble is presenting the opening night showing of Tennessee Williams’ play “Cat on a Hot Tin Roof” on Sept. 5.
The Pulitzer Prize-winning drama takes place on a plantation in Mississippi and details a family’s struggle with illusions, greed and deceit and the characters’ quest for love and truth in a manipulative world, according to Role Players Ensemble publicist Barbara Grant.
The local production — directed by George Maguire — will be showing at the Village Theatre in Danville, 233 Front St., on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays at 8 p.m., and Sundays at 2 p.m.
The play will run from Sept. 5-20, and tickets are $20-28 and sold online, at the Danville Community Center or by calling 314-3400.
Role Players Ensemble will be holding post-show discussions following the Sunday matinees as well a sneak peek event — held at the Danville Library on Aug. 23 at 1 p.m. — to provide a look into the production process with the directors, actors and designers of the show.
