A celebration of life for Patricia “Pat” Perry, who was a longtime San Ramon city employee and served as the city’s first poet laureate, is scheduled for this weekend at the San Ramon Community Center.
Perry, 67, was found shot to death in her Danville home the morning of July 6, the victim of a murder-suicide, according to police. Danville police chief Steve Simpkins said Perry’s husband, Edward, shot her twice before turning the gun on himself.
Police have not released details about what they think led to the incident.
In the time since, friends and family have remembered Perry with photos and posts online at PatPerryMemorial.com.
Perry worked for more than two decades for the city of San Ramon, starting in 1989 as city clerk/redevelopment secretary and receiving several promotions over the years before ending her career as a division manager in 2010.
She also held the distinction of being selected as San Ramon’s first poet laureate in 2006, serving in that position for three years.
The Pat Perry celebration of life is scheduled for this Sunday (Aug. 2) at 1 p.m. in the Fountain Room at the San Ramon Community Center, 12501 Alcosta Blvd.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the San Ramon Library. Send donations, with notation to the Pat Perry Fund, via mail to the library at 100 Montgomery St., San Ramon, CA, 94583. Funds will be used to purchase poetry books in Perry’s honor, city officials said.
The investigation into Perry’s death continues, with coroner’s findings pending, Danville police Lt. Allan Shields said Monday. The final report is expected to be completed in about a month, he added.
