The town of Danville now has an Instagram presence to add to its list of social media platforms used to promote life around the town.
Town officials have created two Instagram accounts, each with a different purpose: the @TownofDanvilleCA account will focus on events, programs, projects and “slice of life” posts, while the @DanvilleParksCA account will focus mostly on parks, recreation and arts in Danville.
These additions are part of a recent branding campaign pushed forward by the town government.
“Danville’s new Instagram accounts will allow us to showcase Danville’s heritage, small-town atmosphere, recreational opportunities, foodie culture, family-friendly lifestyle and emerging arts scene,” said the town’s administrative services director Nat Rojanasathira.
He called Instagram “today’s postcard.”
Different platforms serve distinct purposes for the town, and residents seem to have rallied behind their favorites. Danville’s Facebook account is widely visited, with over 5,000 followers, with town’s Twitter feed trailing slightly behind at 3,500 followers.
Nextdoor is also a popular site for the community to stay informed, used by over 60% of Danville households, while Nixle is used to send out emergency alerts to residents.
