The Danville Police Department’s Coffee & Cocoa with the Cops program is back, with the first get-together scheduled for this week on Tuesday morning.

Coffee & Cocoa with the Cops is a program intended to offer Danville residents the opportunity to chat with police officers in a casual and friendly setting.

“We look forward to this opportunity to meet with our community in a casual setting,” Police Chief Allan Shields said. “So often, a person’s interaction with police is in a stressful situation. This gives the community the chance to know us outside of that framework.”

The schedule for the series is as follows:

* Tuesday — 7 a.m. at Peet’s Coffee, 435 Railroad Ave.

* Aug. 25 — 7 a.m. at Christy’s Donuts, 436 Diablo Road

* Sept. 26 — 5 p.m. at Sideboard, 90 Railroad Ave.

* Oct. 24 — 4:45 p.m. at Danville Library, 400 Front St.

The DPD Open House is coming up soon too, taking place at 10 a.m. on Sept. 16, as will the Recess with the Cops program, which will be reinstated once school is in session once again.
