A comedic fundraiser to benefit the Sandra J. Wing Healing Therapies Foundation, a local cancer support nonprofit, is set to take place later this month at Tommy T’s Comedy Club in Pleasanton.

The fundraiser, “Laugh Out Loud for Rita,” is named in memoriam of Rita Da Costa, a Sandra J. Wing beneficiary who died in 2015. The event will feature local comics Regina Stoops, Stacey Gustafson and Mario Montes, who will serve as emcee.

“Rita had a big, booming laugh and a constant smile on her face, so what better way to celebrate her than an evening of comedy,” Gustafson said.

The Sandra J. Wing foundation provides grants to Tri-Valley cancer patients to use the five support therapies that helped Wing herself get through cancer treatment: acupuncture, acupressure, therapeutic massage, guided/visual imagery and deep breathing meditation.

“Laugh Out Loud for Rita” will be held on Oct. 24 at Tommy T’s Comedy Club, 5104 Hopyard Rd., Pleasanton. The show begins at 7:30 p.m., and tickets cost $20 apiece or $120 for a table of eight. A two-item minimum purchase is required.

For more information and to buy tickets, check the foundation’s website.
