A vegetation fire started near a residential area in eastern San Ramon Tuesday afternoon and after expanding to roughly 40 acres, as of Wednesday morning has been completely extinguished.
The fire began at approximately 3:14 p.m. near Montbretia Way and Ironwood Drive, according to San Ramon Valley Fire Chief Paige Meyer.
About 40 acres of grassland had been affected, Meyer said, but firefighters from San Ramon Valley, Alameda County and Cal Fire have contained and extinguished the fire.
Meyer added that authorities do not yet know what caused the fire to start.
While the fire initially threatened residential structures in the area, no injuries have been reported.
