SRPD military equipment hearing

Officials with the San Ramon Police Department are holding a community meeting Wednesday on the department’s use of military-type equipment in a measure required under recent legislation.

AB 481 was passed in 2021 and went into effect last year, requiring police departments throughout the state to disclose and provide forums for public input on their use of militarized equipment as defined under the legislation.

“At the meeting, we will be discussing the types of equipment we have access to and how it is used by our officers,” SRPD officials said in a Facebook post. “We will also provide information on the costs and training our officers receive to operate this equipment safely and effectively.”

The meeting is scheduled for 4-5 p.m. on Wednesday (April 26) at 2401 Crow Canyon Road in San Ramon.
