The San Ramon Planning Commission is poised for a vote on an application for a new escape room business that would be housed at City Center Bishop Ranch at its meeting Tuesday, following continued discussions on the city’s General Plan update process.

The proposed project would consist of a 4,122-square-foot indoor escape room facility on the second floor of City Center that would accommodate up to eight guests in each of its seven rooms at a time and be among the latest additions to the Escapology franchise.

The application for a use permit to establish a commercial recreation facility was submitted on June 22 and marked as complete by the city’s Planning Services Division on July 18.

The escape room experience generally lasts one hour. Although there is no set age limit for the business, attendees at other locations are generally 14 years old or above. The proposed hours of operation are 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sundays through Thursdays and 10 a.m. to 11 p.m. Fridays and Saturdays.

If the use permit on the table at the upcoming meeting is approved by commissioners, the applicant would then be free to obtain the permits necessary for the next steps in launching the new location.

The San Ramon Planning Commission is set to meet at 6 p.m. on Tuesday (Aug. 15). The agenda is available here.
