The Contra Costa Community College District is now offering free tuition for additional students starting this semester, with a previous requirement that limited the program to first-time students now lifted.
The district announced on Thursday that the “Full-Time Free Tuition Program” that debuted this academic year is now open to students who have previously completed college-level coursework and even full degrees, expanding the program that was previously limited to first-time students.
“We are very excited to expand the Full-time Free Tuition Program to students who have previously attended college”, Interim Chancellor Mojdeh Mehdizadeh said in a statement. “This cost-saving option provides the financial incentive returning full-time students may need to achieve their higher education objectives with us.”
Up to two years of free tuition at the district’s three schools — Los Medanos, Contra Costa and Diablo Valley colleges — is now available to any student or prospective student who are California residents and enroll in the minimum 12 units required for full-time student status, as well as who submit a Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA), regardless of whether they are approved for federal financial aid programs.
More information on the program is available here.
