Following months of recruitment and a series of interviews that are set to continue ahead of the regular Danville Town Council meeting this week, the town is poised to finalize appointments for nearly a dozen seats on local and county advisory bodies.

After finishing interviews at a 4:30 p.m. special meeting, the council is set to appoint four members each to the Bicycle Advisory Commission and Parks, Recreation and Arts Commission, one Senior Advisory Commission member, one regular and one alternate member representing Danville on the Contra Costa County Library Commission, and one local representative to the County Connection Citizens Advisory Committee.

As a related matter, the council will also consider a resolution that would allow for alternate members on the senior and bicycle advisory commissions.

“Over the years, the role of the alternate has become more important as it provides an extra, experienced commissioner to fill in when a regular member of the commission is absent or has resigned and helps ensure that a quorum is present,” City Attorney Robert Ewing wrote in a staff report.

The Danville Town Council is set to meet at 5 p.m. Tuesday (July 7). The agenda is available here.
