The Playbook is delivered each Tuesday into your inbox! It’s free — you just register to get it. Be sure to share with the players and parents of your team so they can get the Playbook each week too! They can do it at danvillesanramon.com.
The Big Picture sums up the end of the winter season except for the three basketball teams still playing! De La Salle and San Ramon Valley on the boys’ side and Carondelet on the girls’ side are fighting for state title berths this year.
EBAL Power Rankings offer the final rankings for basketball and soccer this week. Even with some teams still playing, the final rankings have been secured. Make sure to read how!
What to Watch … there are three basketball teams left — see who and when they play.

Who’s still alive and who’s out from EBAL in state tournaments
Three East Bay Athletic League teams are left carrying the banner in the winter sports postseason, while three others advanced in the NorCal playoffs in both basketball and soccer before seeing their seasons come to an end.

Power Rankings as of March 10.
Throughout the year, the Power Rankings were a sign of which team was playing the best at the time. These final rankings reflect the best teams for the season.
EBAL BOYS’ SOCCER
1. Dougherty Valley (19-4-2): Saw their season end with a 3-1 loss to Davis in the first round of the CIF State D-I playoffs. Outplayed De La Salle to win the EBAL and NCS Playoffs. Great season!
2. De La Salle (18-5-2): The Spartans advanced to the CIF State finals where they fell in the D-I finals to Everett Alvarez, a high school in Salinas. Had the second-best season.
3. San Ramon Valley (13-8-3): A solid season for the Wolves that ended with a 4-0 loss to De La Salle in the NCS playoffs.
4. Monte Vista (9-6-2): The Mustangs keep the No. 4 spot over Granada by virtue of their 4-1 win over the Mats late in the season. Fell to San Ramon Valley in NCS.
5. Granada (16-9-1): The Matadors advanced to the State D-II playoffs, then beat Woodland 4-2 in the first round before seeing their season end with a 2-0 loss to Hillsdale.
The rest: Livermore (8-10-4), California (12-7-6), Amador Valley (4-11-7), Dublin (5-7-6), Foothill (5-11-4).
EBAL GIRLS’ SOCCER
1. Carondelet (18-4-0): The Cougars did not get a spot in the NorCal playoffs because of their early round NCS loss to Acalanes. Disappointing ending for the school but I still think they had the best overall season.
2. Amador Valley (14-5-0): An incredible season for the Dons as they advanced to the second round of state before falling 2-0 to Saint Francis, the eventual NorCal winner. I would have loved to see the Dons play more games overall to give the blend of youth and senior leaders a chance to come together even stronger.
3. Monte Vista (10-6-3): The Mustangs fell in the first round of the CIF State playoffs, 1-0 to eventual finalist Mitty. Great four game NCS run for Monte Vista. I could have easily put SRV here but that four game, NCS run got them the No. 3 spot.
4. San Ramon Valley (10-3-0): The Wolves 3-2 loss to Liberty in NCS and did not get a berth in the NCS playoffs. Good, solid season that ended in disappointment.
5. Foothill (8-6-4): No NorCal spot but the Falcons finished with a winning record and advanced to the second round of the NCS playoffs.
The rest: California (7-9-4), Dublin (8-6-3), Granada (7-5-7), Dougherty Valley (5-9-1), Livermore (3-11-1).
EBAL GIRLS’ BASKETBALL
1. San Ramon Valley (28-4): The Wolves fell 69-62 in the second round of the CIF State Open playoffs to unbeaten Clovis West. Beat Pinewood 56-32 in the first round and beating Carondelet all three times the two teams faced each other locks them into the top spot.
2. Carondelet (25-6): The Cougars are playing for the D-I NorCal title on Tuesday night following a 64-46 win over Cardinal Newman in the semifinals. Will stay at No. 2 after going 0-3 against SRV this year.
3. California (23-12): The Grizzlies finished out a year where they were the established No. 3 team behind the powerhouses of San Ramon Valley and Carondelet. Went 2-1 in the CIF D-III tournament, losing to Caruthers 64-41 in the semifinals.
4. Dublin (22-7): The Gaels did not make the NorCal tournament after losing in NCS but did beat Dougherty Valley head-to-head this year.
5. Dougherty Valley (21-12): The Wildcats went north to Chico and fell in the NorCal D-III first round 53-50.
The rest: Monte Vista (13-16), Granada (12-16), Amador Valley (9-17), Livermore (9-18), Foothill (5-21).
EBAL BOYS’ BASKETBALL
1. De La Salle (28-4): The Spartans are in the CIF State Open NorCal title game Tuesday night at top seeded Riordan. The Spartans knocked off Folsom 47-38 to advance to the NorCal title championship. The Spartans will end the season as the No. 1 team by virtue of their 2-0 record against San Ramon Valley.
2. San Ramon Valley (23-9): The Wolves will be playing for a NorCal title Tuesday night against Lincoln-Stockton in D-I action. The Wolves got to the title game with a wild, 77-74 overtime win against Oakland Tech.
3. Dougherty Valley (24-9): The Wildcats were knocked from the NorCal tournament, dropping an 84-76 game to Moreau Catholic.
4. Dublin (24-8): The Gaels met the same fate, falling 65-62 to St. Ignatius in the first round of the NorCal playoffs.
5. California (23-7): Another big season for the Grizzlies, advancing to the CIF playoffs for the second straight year. Their season ended with a loss to top-seeded Inderkum in the first round
The rest: Amador Valley (21-11), Monte Vista (17-12), Granada (8-19), Foothill (13-15), Livermore (15-14).
