A portion of Camino Ramon was reopened Thursday morning following a gas line rupture during construction in Bishop Ranch at the intersection with Executive Parkway earlier in the day, with a shelter-in-place order lifted for the surrounding area that includes Iron Horse Middle School.

The road closure and shelter in place order were announced by the San Ramon Police Department at 10:30 a.m. after the rupture by construction workers was reported at Camino Ramon and Executive Parkway, along with the closure of Camino Ramon between Bishop Drive and Norris Canyon Road.

Workers with PG&E were on the scene as of 10:45 a.m., with no evacuations recommended at that time, but the shelter-in-place order and road closure remained in effect.

That order was lifted as of 11:34 a.m., when it was announced that the gas line had been successfully clamped.

While it’s unclear what construction project in the area led to the rupture, the site is near the newly developed 404-unit City Village project and the 190-unit Bartlett project that is currently in the works.
