SRVHS homecoming
The town of Danville is set for San Ramon Valley High School’s homecoming parade and warning drivers of associated road closures for the Friday festivities as the new school year and athletic season kicks into gear.
The parade kicks off at 2:50 p.m. starting at the SRVHS campus and proceeding through the downtown neighborhood in a loop route through Prospect Avenue, with streets set to be reopened by 3:30 p.m.
“To ensure the safety of the participants during the parade, traffic will be controlled through a series of rolling street closures,” town officials wrote in an announcement. “Motorists are asked to use caution in the area and expect delays.”
The Wolves are set to host Pleasanton’s Foothill High School team for this year’s homecoming game.
Senior Tech Fair
Danville is set for a Senior Tech Fair this weekend.
“Bring your devices to explore stations offering free online resources and connect with tech-savvy student experts for answers to your tech questions and personalized guidance,” town officials wrote in an announcement.
The event is set for 9 a.m. to noon at the Danville Community Center at 420 Front St. More information and registration is available here.
Presiding judge
Contra Costa County Superior Court Judge Joni Hiramoto was appointed as the court’s presiding judge for the upcoming year, with Benjamin Reyes appointed as assistant presiding judge.
Hiramoto is poised to take the reins from this year’s presiding judge Christopher Bowen starting Jan. 1.
“The Court thanks Presiding Judge Bowen for his courageous, diligent and visionary leadership these past two years,” Hiramoto said in a press release from the county court.. “He leaves the Court in a far stronger state than he inherited.”
Hiramoto is currently serving as assistant presiding judge, a role that Reyes will take over for the new term.
“He has been an inspiration to me ever since he joined the bench and I look forward to working together to serve the Court and our Contra Costa County community,” Hiramoto said.
‘Space Between the Notes’ tour
San Ramon is among the upcoming stops for sitar star Niladri Kumaar’s ongoing tour.
“A serious exponent of Indian Classical Music, Kumaar along with Agnelo Fernandes (keys), Sambit Chatterjee (drums), and Satyajit Talwalkar (tabla), fearlessly blend centuries-old tradition with creative modern innovation in the Space Between the Notes tour,” city officials wrote in an announcement.
The show is set for Oct. 1 from 8 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. at the Dougherty Valley Performing Arts Center. Tickets and more information are available here.
