Officials with Contra Costa County Public Works are notifying drivers in Alamo to anticipate delays near Danville Boulevard and Orchard Court this week as workers with the department take to the area to perform paving work at the intersection.
The three-day long paving project kicked off Monday evening, with overnight work consisting of excavating sections of old pavement and placing the base of the roadway. It continued Tuesday during the day, with work consisting of pavement improvements.
Flaggers and traffic control measures will continue to be in place at the intersection Wednesday, with the final stages of this week’s work scheduled from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m. and drivers continuing to be warned of potential delays up to 15 minutes in the surrounding area.
The pavement replacement serves as the third phase of the Alamo Roundabout project, which is set to include new sidewalks, ramps, and curb extensions to accommodate pedestrians and bicyclists plus landscaping changes, electrical work, and road repairs in addition to creating a roundabout at the intersection.

I don’t know who to tell. As they are finishing the paving surrounding the roundabout, are they aware that during the construction, a dip has been created in the roadway as you enter Alamo Plaza from the roundabout? When you are heading toward Xenias, you take a bit of a roller coaster dip just as you leave the circle. Now would be a great time to level that out!
