The city of San Ramon has announced that a full closure of Bollinger Canyon Road that had been scheduled for this week has been postponed, with construction work on the Iron Horse Regional Trail overcrossing now set to be accommodated by partial lane closures for the immediate future.
Despite the cancellation, officials said that construction is proceeding as planned, with no delays expected so far and the long-anticipated pedestrian and bicycle overcrossing over the busy roadway still set to be complete next summer.
“Project construction remains on schedule; the closure has been removed after a re-sequencing of construction activities, resulting in a reduced impact to the public,” city officials said in an announcement Friday.
The planned closure previously scheduled for Oct. 1-7 came on the heels of an initial full road closure on Bollinger Canyon Road from Sept. 9-15, a window that was shortened by two days in an effort to minimize the impact on residents and businesses.
While the second full closure is delayed for now, it could still be on the horizon in the coming months.
“A full closure may still be required in November, and the City will provide dates and additional details as they are confirmed,” officials said in Friday’s announcement.
