Some 30,000 to 40,000 pounds of chocolate were destroyed after a big-rig hauling the sweets caught fire on westbound Interstate 580 near Grant Line Road outside of Livermore on Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

No one was injured, but the fire response and cleanup snarled traffic for hours over the Altamont Pass that day.
