Crews began clearing trees along a portion of Diablo Road in Danville on Monday – preliminary work that represents the start of the effort to build a new public trail in the area.
The tree work and associated traffic disruptions between Fairway Drive and Alameda Diablo are expected to last just this week, although if rain arrives delays could extend the work into the following week or two, Danville town officials said.
“This work is a precursor to construction on the trail project, in the effort to enhance safety and accessibility for pedestrians and cyclists along Diablo Road,” town officials added. “These improvements are an essential investment in the safety and connectivity of the Diablo Road corridor. We encourage residents and commuters to plan accordingly and allow extra travel time when driving through the area.”
Work hours have been scheduled from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. this Monday through Friday to minimize traffic disruptions and align with school schedules in the area. Lane closures should be minimal, with only one lane to be blocked off when necessary, according to the town.
More information about the tree removal and the overall trail project can be found at www.danvilletowntalks.org/diablotrail. It was not immediately clear when actual trail construction will begin.
