Hot Summer Sundays car show
Drivers in downtown Danville are being advised to make way for the San Ramon Valley’s most impressive vehicles this weekend, with the annual Hot Summer Sundays car show and associated road closures on tap.
This year’s event is at a “new and improved location” following renovations to the downtown neighborhood over the past year according to organizers, with staging set for San Ramon Valley High School before the main event featuring hundreds of hot rods and classic cars along Hartz and Prospect avenues.
The show runs from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m Sunday, with road closures scheduled from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. on the following streets:
* Hartz Avenue between Railroad Avenue and School Street.
* Linda Mesa Avenue between Railroad Avenue and the Rose Street parking lot.
* Diablo Road between Hartz Avenue and Rose Street.
* Prospect Avenue between the Clock Tower parking lot entrance and Front Street.
* Church Street between Hartz Avenue and the Village Theatre parking lot.

School of Rock San Ramon’s new location
San Ramon’s School of Rock is hosting a grand reopening this weekend in celebration of both its 11-year anniversary and its new, upgraded location.
The event is set for the music school and performance space’s new home at 165 Market Place, an expansion of its former space across the street at 460 Montgomery St.
“School of Rock is about so much more than music,” said John Baker, School of Rock San Ramon owner/director in a press release Wednesday.“Our students learn how to perform, collaborate and lead, but they also gain confidence, make lifelong friendships and discover what they are capable of.”
“This new facility gives us the opportunity to build on everything we’ve accomplished over the past 11 years and serve even more students in our community,” he continued.
Those accomplishments and the new space alike will be showcased at the upcoming celebration on Saturday (Aug. 29) from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., featuring live student performances, facility tours, and mini lessons and performance opportunities for prospective students.
Danville roadwork
Drivers on Blackhawk Road between Magee Ranch Road and Oakridge Lane are being advised to prepare for traffic control measures and delays of 10 to 15 minutes starting Monday (Aug. 31) from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and continuing during those hours on weekdays through Sept. 17 for pavement repairs.
Community Business awards
The San Ramon Chamber of Commerce’s annual Community Business Awards and annual celebration are on tap in early December, with award nominations open through next month and tickets now on sale.
Nominations are being accepted in the following categories through Sept. 25.

*Employee of the Year
*”Green” Company/Individual of the Year
*Non-Profit of the Year
