lackhawk police services is offering a public information class at 7 p.m., Tuesday, June 7, at the Lakeside County Club in Blackhawk. The event, which is open to non-Blackhawk residents as well, is meant to help homeowners better screen the people they hire to work around the house.

Lt. Kevin Ryan of Blackhawk Police Services believes screening tips could be invaluable, especially in light of former Danville nanny Jimena Barretto, who was found guilty of second degree murder when she drove while intoxicated, swerved off Camino Tassajara, and struck Alana and Troy Pack, killing them.

“We just want people to be very careful. We want them to be able to hire quality people,” said Ryan. Hiring the right people can prevent things like robbery, he added. To reserve a seat, call Ryan at 736-1018.
