The Pleasanton Chamber of Commerce recently announced that Yianna Theodorou has taken over the reins as the new president/CEO as of Jan. 1.
“It’s an honor to step into this role,” Theodorou told the Weekly. “I have a deep love for this community and great respect for the leaders whose dedication built such a strong Chamber. I look forward to building on that foundation.”
The appointment comes a little more than a year after the chamber parted ways with former president and CEO James Cooper in December 2024. The chamber never revealed why it decided to move on from Cooper, who joined the Pleasanton organization in June 2022.
Theodorou has been with the organization for more than 13 years serving as business operations manager, according to a Jan. 9 press release from the chamber. After Cooper left the chamber, Theodorou stepped in as chief operating officer where she “played a critical role in overseeing day-to-day operations, advancing strategic initiatives, and supporting the continued growth and success of the organization”.
“The Pleasanton Chamber, as well as the entire Pleasanton business community, is extremely fortunate to have Yianna leading and serving in this capacity,” Brock Roby, the chamber’s incoming board chair, said in the press release. “Yianna’s ability to be smart, hard-working, and thoughtful all at the same time allows her to bring out the best in the people she leads.”
During her tenure, Theodorou has strengthened member engagement, expanded programs and events, supported local businesses and fostered “meaningful partnerships throughout Pleasanton and the Tri-Valley region”, according to the chamber. She also managed the Leadership Pleasanton program, which teaches residents about how their local government works.
According to the chamber, Theodorou’s experience, leadership and commitment to the chamber’s mission make her the ideal president and CEO who will help “guide the organization into its next chapter”.
“As we celebrate the Chamber’s 80th year in 2026, my focus is on strengthening relationships with our members and community, supporting local businesses, and working with a new team to build on and carry forward the Chamber’s strong legacy,” Theodorou said.
