The Kristi Yamaguchi Holiday Ice Rink at City Center Bishop Ranch will open for the season Friday, and the Bay Area Olympic champion figure skater is set to appear at the rink that evening and host a skating clinic the following day.

Yamaguchi, who grew up in Fremont and now lives in Alamo, will attend the rink’s opening ceremony, scheduled for 6-7 p.m. Friday. The event will feature a ribbon cutting, carolers, and skating performances.

The rink officially opens for public skating on Saturday, and Yamaguchi will host a sold-out skating clinic that morning.

The rink will remain open through Jan. 3, with 90-minute skate sessions at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. daily. There is also an early-start session at 11 a.m. Fridays-Sundays and a late-night skate at 9 p.m. Saturdays-Sundays. General admission tickets, which include skate rentals, are $23 for ages 3 and up. Select matinee sessions are $16, and a season pass for unlimited skating is $100.

On Thursday nights in December, the rink will host themed music nights, including “K-pop Music Night” on Dec. 3, “Stars & Stripes on Ice Music Night” on Dec. 10 and “Olivia Rodrigo Music Night” on Dec. 17.
