The California Highway Patrol continues to investigate the crash near the eastern edge of Alameda County that killed a Mountain House High School student earlier this fall.

The Alameda County Coroner’s Bureau later identified the decedent as Trezur Leighane Destyne Williams, 17, of Tracy. Williams was remembered as a caring teenager and popular senior at her high school during a candlelight vigil held in her honor four days after the wreck that claimed her life, according to the Tracy Press.

“It is with great sadness that I share that we learned this afternoon of the passing of one of our students. We know that news like this can have a significant impact on students, staff, and families throughout our school community,” Mountain House High principal Adam Auerbach said in a statement to the school community on the evening of Sept. 25. “Our thoughts are with the student’s family, friends, classmates, and all those affected by this loss.”

The CHP-Dublin office has put out a call for potential witnesses to come forward to aid in their investigation, but so far new information has been hard to come by.

“We have not received any other information or witnesses. Unfortunately it occurred at a time and on a road where there were no homes and not much traffic,” Officer Tyler Hahn told Livermore Vine.

The deadly collision occurred just after noon Sept. 25 on Mountain House Road in unincorporated Alameda County, not far from the border with San Joaquin County.

CHP officials reported receiving calls about a serious crash involving a big-rig and a car on Mountain House Road north of West Grant Line Road. When officers arrived, they found the aftermath of the collision between a southbound white 2014 Freightliner Cascadia tractor with two end-dump trailers and a northbound tan 2004 Honda Civic.

“For an unknown reason, a broadside crash occurred within the southbound lane of traffic, and the Honda sustained catastrophic damage,” CHP-Dublin officials said. “Fatal injuries were sustained to a passenger of the Honda.”

Both drivers – who have not been publicly identified – remained at the scene and cooperated with the investigation, according to the CHP. Alcohol is not believed to have been a factor in the crash at lunchtime that Friday afternoon.

The circumstances of the fatal collision remain under active investigation. “The CHP is asking for your help with any information regarding this crash,” officials said at the time. “We appreciate the public’s assistance in these investigations, and often, your help can answer questions that remain unanswered.”

Anyone with information can contact CHP-Dublin at 925-828-0466 and ask for Officer Hartman or Officer Purl.
