The San Ramon City Council is set to consider proposed changes to the city’s budget that would result in more than $3 million in additional spending compared with the original budget for the current fiscal year.
The move comes following a report and presentation on the city’s financial outlook and funding needs to the Planning Commission on Feb. 16, and a midyear financial report that was presented to the finance committee on Feb. 22, with staff now recommending adjustments of $1,062,633 for the General Fund and $2,064,589 for other city reserves.
The financial report found that General Fund revenue was up $1.2 million more in the course of six months than it had been last year, with year-end expenditures from the General Fund set to be $800,000 less than the budgeted $59.1 million.Â
Year-end revenues in the General Fund and the Dougherty Valley fund are set to be $500,000 more than the expected $83.9 million in the current budget, with year-end expenditures set to be $1.1 million less than the budgeted $85.2 million.
Proposed changes set for consideration by the City Council Tuesday include $23,606 for the addition of a program manager for the city’s grant and sustainability programs to the city manager’s office as well as $70,000 for the establishment and continued implementation of an annual community survey, $40,631 for an administrative coordinator at the city clerk’s office to manage public records requests and the records management department, with costs for both positions being offset by unfunded positions in other departments, according to a staff report prepared for the upcoming meeting.Â
Overall, the proposed changes would amount to appropriated funding of $1,488,103 from General Fund reserves and $1,639,120 from non-General Fund reserves.Â
