Trails Master Plan
The City of San Ramon is seeking community feedback on its Trails Master Plan, with a community survey open through July 15 aimed at gathering insight on current trail use and suggestions for future improvements.
“The purpose of this Trails Master Plan is to identify and prioritize connections to enhance and complete the existing trail system as well as explore opportunities as the needs of the community grow,” City officials said in a press release June 12. “This plan will help to guide San Ramon’s trail system with best management practices and a vision for the future.”
The survey and more information are available here.
Valley Pride
The San Ramon Valley is set to celebrate LGBTQ+ Pride Month this weekend with festivities hosted by the Danville Congregational Church.
The celebration kicks off Friday with an opening reception and film screening of “Mama Bears” scheduled from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., resuming with a full day of programming Saturday.
Saturday’s lineup kicks off at 9 a.m. with a presentation from the Danville-San Ramon and Tri-Valley chapters of PFLAG on supporting and advocating for LGBTQ+ loved ones, followed by a presentation on safeguarding mental health in the LGBTQ+ community at 10:15 a.m., and a presentation on the impact of books at 11:30 a.m.
Danville Mayor Renee Morgan is set to take to the stage starting at 1 p.m., which will also mark the kickoff of a community resource fair through 3 p.m. Saturday.
The weekend closes out with a Sunday service and closing reception themed around LGBTQ+ pride.
All of the Valley pride activities – with the exception of Saturday’s workshop on mental health, which will be virtual – are set for the church’s grounds at 989 San Ramon Valley Boulevard in Danville. More information is available here.
DeSaulnier town hall
Rep. Mark DeSaulnier (D-Concord) is hosting a virtual town hall next week centered on his work in congress aimed at protecting democracy.
“Since swearing to protect and defend the Constitution and assuming office about five months ago, President Trump’s policies have trampled on our democracy, including by detaining U.S. citizens with questionable due process, withholding funds from universities and institutions that have policy disagreements with the Administration, and most recently deploying National Guard troops and Marines to California against the Governor’s objections,” DeSaulnier said in a press release Wednesday.
DeSaulnier noted that while he and his fellow democrats in congress are seeking to contend with these challenges, having a minority in the house poses an additional obstacle, with a large portion of pushback against the Trump administration coming from the courts.
The event is scheduled for 4 p.m. Tuesday (June 24). Registration and more information is available here. https://desaulnier.house.gov/town-hall-rsvp
Nurse navigation program
The Contra Costa Fire Protection District has launched a new nurse navigation program aimed at providing new non-emergency medical care options.
As of June 10, if dispatchers receive a call about a condition in which emergency care or hospital transport are not required, callers will be directed to a nurse navigator who will provide a treatment plan and coordinate access to treatment.
“By connecting callers with the right resources, it helps reduce pressure on emergency
departments and allows our ambulances and first responders to focus on the most
urgent cases,” said Xon Burris Jr., assistant fire chief for Confire’s EMS division. “This program is an important step in providing exceptional care to the residents and visitors of Contra Costa County while ensuring our emergency services remain responsive and effective.”
The program does not require insurance for patients, and is provided at no cost.
Living history talk
Forest Home Farms Historic Park is hosting a living history talk this weekend, featuring insight from Edward Thomas, a descendant of the family who owned the Glass Victorian House that now serves as a museum at the park. The historic house will also be the subject of a tour.
More information and registration is available here.
